Lansing sewer main break sparks warning to residents

by Mark H. Anbinder.

Ithaca, 4 June 09 -- The Village of Lansing says the Shops at Ithaca Mall remain open despite what the village calls "a large sewer main break" in the area behind the mall, formerly Pyramid Mall Ithaca. While the mall and the residential area behind it remain open, village officials urge residents to keep children from wading or playing in streams or creeks in the area.

Village officials are working with the Department of Environmental Conservation and the Tompkins County Health Department, and have bypassed the affected sewer lines. Area residents with questions are encouraged to call John Courtney at 257-0424, ext. 3.
