Ithaca-area News Briefsby 14850 Today & WVBR News.Comedy All-Stars show at State Theatre cancelledIthaca, 22 February 08 -- Dan Smalls, the executive director of downtown Ithaca's State Theatre, says winter weather in the midwest has stranded the comics for Friday's Bob and Tom Comedy All-Stars show at airports throughout the country, forcing them to postpone tonight's show. Smalls says they're "working feverishly to secure a date," and expect to announce it by Monday. Those with a jones for comedy can still enjoy Saturday night's "Nobodies of Comedy" show.

The February 5th primary gives registered Democratic and Republican voters an opportunity to select their respective party's candidate for this November's presidential election. Voters who aren't sure whether they're eligible to vote or where their polling place is may call the Tompkins County Board of Elections at 607-274-5521, or stop in at 128 East Buffalo Street. Polling place information is also on the BOE web site at www.votetompkins.com.Ithaca area schools closed due to icy conditionsIthaca, 1 February 08 -- Icy weather conditions on Friday morning have resulted in school closings in the Ithaca City School District and surrounding schools, including Trumansburg, Dryden, Lansing, Newfield, and Whitney Point districts.
