Local First Ithaca merchants spark holiday sales with 10% on the 10th offer

Ithaca, 10 December 09 -- Dozens of area merchants are participating in a one-day "Local First Ithaca" holiday shopping promotion that offers 10% off on the 10th of December. Offers range from 10% off the price of particular product lines to 10% off any item in the store, at a variety of merchants ranging from Mama Goose to Benjamin Peters to Red Feet Wines.
One merchant, Comics for Collectors, is even offering 20% off to customers wearing an "I Buy Local!" button into the store. Another, Garden Gate Delivery, is applying the 10% discount to all orders from their countless local meat and produce providers, for any orders placed on the 10th for delivery the following week.
Participating merchants include clothing and food stores, pet supplies and furniture shops, wine stores, art galleries and music shops, and even an eatery.
The promotion, which Local First Ithaca admits was "shamelessly pirated" from Greenstar Cooperative Market (with their permission), will bring a number of small local merchants without a lot of their own promotional power in front of holiday shoppers looking for good deals.
