Cayuga Street and New Roots Charter School closed due to water main break

January 9, 2013

The City of Ithaca says a water main break has forced the Department of Public Works to close the 100 block of North Cayuga Street in Downtown Ithaca, between Seneca Street and State Street, for the day. Crews are on site and are expected to have the water main repaired by the end of the day Wednesday.

The water main break has also forced New Roots Charter School to close. School facilities are not permitted to remain open without running water.

Drivers should expect delays navigating Downtown Ithaca. The affected block is one of two one-way blocks of Cayuga Street adjoining the Ithaca Commons, along with the 100 block of South Cayuga Street. Geneva Street or Plain Street are good options for southbound vehicles.
