Ithaca police, mayor advising no unnecessary travel on icy roads Monday morning

Ithaca Police and Mayor Myrick are advising "no unnessary travel" on roads that have a layer of ice and snow.

Police and fire crews are on the scenes of several accidents this morning, according to Mayor Svante Myrick, who says "an ice layer is making travel especially dangerous.

Ithaca City School District says some school buses are running up to 30 minutes behind schedule, and we're hearing reports that TCAT buses are also running late.

A warm and rainy weekend left lots of wet surfaces to freeze as temperatures dropped, making conditions worse when light lake effect snow began overnight.

Sergeant Melissa Harmon at IPD says Department of Public Works crews are out addressing road conditions.
