GIAC invites Ithaca community to annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. community breakfast

January 14, 2016 by Rachel Cera

GIAC hosts an annual community breakfast to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Ithaca, and this year's breakfast is Saturday morning.

The theme for this year's community MLK breakfast follows a Dr. King quote: "If you can’t fly, run. If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, crawl. But by all means, keep moving." Community leader Cal Walker will be the guest speaker at the event, which runs from 9-11:30am, with breakfast served from 9-10:30.

GIAC participants and other community members will also provide music, poetry, and other entertainment, and the Tompkins County Office of Human Rights awards will be presented during the program.

Breakfast costs $4 for adults, $2 for seniors and students, or $15 for a whole family. Contact GIAC, the Greater Ithaca Activities Center, at 607-272-3622 for more information or to volunteer to help at the breakfast. The event is Saturday, January 16 at the Beverly J. Martin Elementary School, in the gym.
