With the actual temperature early this morning about 17 degrees below zero, and wind chills pushing the effective temperature down around 30 below, Ithaca City School District and several other area school districts have closed for the day, including a few that were originally on a two-hour delay.
Ithaca City School District is closed today. All after-school and evening activities are canceled.
- Lansing Central School District is closed today.
- Dryden Central School District is closed today.
- Newfield Central School District is closed. They were originally on a two-hour delay.
- Trumansburg Central School District is closed. They were originally on a two-hour delay.
- Watkins Glen Central School District is closed. They were originally on a two-hour delay.
- Syracuse City School District is closed, including Syracuse Catholic schools.
- South Seneca Central School District is closed today, but the scheduled board meeting will take place.
Several other districts are opening on a two-hour delay.

- Cortland Enlarged City School District
- Binghamton Central School District
- Corning Painted Post Area School District
The polar vortex affecting our area is behind a storm system that brought several inches of snow to east coast cities yesterday afternoon through this morning. No significant snow is expected for Central New York, where the forecast high temperature is in the single digits.
