Both Ithaca City School District and Lansing Central School District have issued bus advisories for Thursday morning. The advisories are geared toward keeping students who take a school bus from having to wait outdoors too long in this week's frigid temperatures.

IHS and Boynton buses will make additional pick-up stops at about 8:35 at Tompkins County Public Library, Southside Community Center, and 3rd & Hancock Streets. DeWitt buses will also pick up at Salem and Birchwood Drive North, and Winston Court and the Walkway, at about 8:45.
Lansing's advisory says students may wait indoors or in a warm car for their bus to arrive. This may delay bus pick-up times.
ICSD transportation manager Jim Ellis says the district's bus advisory on Tuesday went smoothly. "I told the drivers to be extra-patient at every bus stop, just in case a child had stayed inside a little longer than usual." Ellis said most buses ran just about on time, though the district warned parents and students there could be a 2-3 minute delay on some routes.
Thursday and Friday's weather should be warmer than today's, with high temperatures in the teens, but the morning bus run will still be quite cold. Temperatures this weekend should reach the mid 20s, with a chance of snow showers.
