Expect delays with East State Street reduced to one lane Monday through Friday

January 25, 2013

Update: The City of Ithaca DPW's Water & Sewer Division says crews will be working on the 800 block of East State Street through Friday afternoon, installing new water and sewer service for buildings in the Collegetown Terrace apartment complex.

The street, which is also New York State Route 79, will be reduced to one lane between Eddy Street and Mitchell Street. Flaggers will alternate traffic through the work zone.

Work will begin at 7am on Monday, January 28th, and is now expected to continue through mid-afternoon Friday, February 1st. Motorists should consider alternate routes to avoid delays. Drivers headed downtown could consider Pine Tree Road to Maple Avenue, down Dryden Road to Eddy Street, and down Buffalo or Seneca to downtown, or Giles Street across Six Mile Creek to south hill. Drivers headed east could take Buffalo Street from downtown, then continue up Dryden Road and Maple Avenue to Pine Tree Road.
