As NYC and New England residents scramble for french toast ingredients, Ithaca should escape the worst

January 25, 2015 by Rachel Cera

If your friends from New York City and New Jersey make fun of you for living in the Central New York snow belt, karma may be catching up to them. A blizzard warning has been issued for coastal areas from New Jersey up through New England for Monday afternoon through Tuesday evening.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton says light snow will develop in the Ithaca area on Monday, with just a few inches of accumulation expected through Tuesday afternoon. Not so to the southeast; a foot or more is predicted for the Catskills and Poconos. In New Jersey, metro New York, and New England, residents are heading to stores to pick up eggs, milk, and bread.

For Central New York, expect a seasonably chilly week in the teens and twenties, with snow showers providing little accumulation other than Monday's storm. But, if you're planning to travel towards the coast, Monday morning is your opportunity.
