The Ithaca City School District has issued a cold-weather bus advisory for Tuesday morning, as temperatures plummet once again. Temperatures overnight in the Ithaca area are expected to drop to about -4, and won't likely climb above 10 on Tuesday.

High school buses will make additional stops downtown and in Fall Creek to pick up students who usually walk. Planned stops at about 8:35am include the Tompkins County Public Library, the Southside Community Center, and Third and Hancock Streets. Buses for DeWitt Middle School will also pick up at Salem and Birchwood Drive North, and Winston Court and the Walkway, at about 8:45am. School officials say buses are likely to run slightly behind schedule as a result of these measures.
Superindendent of Schools Dr. Luvelle Brown says many ICSD students have TCAT bus passes that can also help students who normally walk get to school in bad weather. The bus passes, which are intended to provide students transportation to and from jobs, community service, and events that aren't served by school transportation, are available free to Ithaca High School and Lehman Alternative Community School students. (Students may not use the bus passes in lieu of district-provided transportation. The passes are available from an assistant principal.)
The Trumansburg Central School District is opening on a one-hour delay on Tuesday. The Watkins Glen Central School District and Syracuse City School District will both be opening on a two-hour delay on Tuesday.
