Extreme wind chills forecast for tonight, according to National Weather Service

January 30, 2015 by Mark H. Anbinder

An actual low temperature overnight approaching zero will combine with sharp winds up to 20mph to bring extreme wind chills as low as -20°F to Central New York on Friday night.

The National Weather Service warns that wind chills in the -15 to -24 range "will bring frostbite quickly to exposed skin." They suggest anyone who must go out should "dress in layers and cover up as much exposed skin as possible."

A lake effect snow advisory is also in effect, mostly southeast of Cayuga Lake, in areas like Danby, Newark Valley, and Caroline, rather than in Ithaca itself.
