Most schools closed as snowstorm brings dangerous travel conditions

Ithaca City School District and other schools across the area are closed on Monday. The National Weather Service anticipates dangerous travel conditions this morning.

Forecasts are for snow falling early this morning at rates of 1-2 inches per hour until about 7am, and then tapering off. Blowing and drifting snow are likely through the day. Areas to our south are likely to turn to sleet or freezing rain.

The following school districts have announced they'll be closed on Monday:

  • Ithaca City School District
  • Lansing Central School District
  • Dryden Central School District
  • Trumansburg Central School District
  • Newfield Central School District
  • Groton Central School District (Jr/Sr High for conferences)
  • Namaste Montessori School
  • Watkins Glen Central School District
  • Odessa Montour Central School District
  • Elmira City School District
  • Geneva City School District

Syracuse City School District is now closed. They were originally opening on a two-hour delay. 

Tompkins Cortland Community College is closed. All day and evening classes at all locations are canceled. Students in the residence halls can get meals at the TC3 Eatery from 10am-2pm. As of this writing, Cornell University and Ithaca College remain open on Monday.

Loaves and Fishes of Tompkins County is closed today and is not serving lunch. Ithaca Community Healthcare is closed today.
