No pups, but plenty of pints, at Rogues' Harbor for SPCA Pints for Pups fundraiser

February 11, 2015 by Mark H. Anbinder

This Thursday evening is the annual "Pints for Pups" craft beer tasting and fundraiser for the SPCA of Tompkins County, at Lansing's Rogues' Harbor Inn. A $15 donation to the SPCA covers tastings with several participating breweries.

"We hope you'll join us, because, really, what's better than pups and beer?" asks SPCA director Jim Bouderau. The event, which runs from 6-9pm on Thursday, February 12th, has raised thousands of dollars each year for the SPCA, and includes a silent auction that features pet-related items donated by local businesses. One of the prizes is a basket from Hungry Hound Beerscuits, which makes pet treats using spent brewer's grain.

Rogues' Harbor owner Eileen Stout says several other local breweries will be on hand pouring their beers, along with the in-house Stouthearted Brewing. Breweries include Bacchus, Cortland, Hopshire, Southern Tier, Saranac, Seneca Lodge, and Wagner Valley. In addition to donations at the door and silent auction proceeds, Stout says Rogues' Harbor will donate 10% of dinner sales for the evening to the SPCA.

Local musical performers scheduled for the evening include Samuel B. Lupowitz and the Ego Band, and Eden's Apple. Rogues' Harbor, which focuses heavily on local produce, cheeses, meats, wines, and beers in developing their seasonal menu, is a 1930s landmark just minutes from the Shops at Ithaca Mall or downtown Ithaca.
