Two women arrested after swiping tip jar from Downtown Ithaca restaurant

Two area women are in Tompkins County Jail on charges of robbery in the second degree after police say they stole a tip jar from a restaurant counter in downtown Ithaca. IPD officers arrested 20-year-old Nateah Ellison and 36-year-old BobbiJo Craft after stopping them near the restaurant.

Photos provided by IPD.The victim says he confronted the pair when they stole the tip jar from the restaurant's counter, and that a physical struggle followed as they attempted to leave with the tip jar. Police responded to a call from the unidentified restaurant in the 100 block of East State Street near the west end of the Commons just after 11:30pm Monday, and officers stopped the suspects after learning the direction of travel and a clothing description from dispatchers. 

Ellison and Craft were positively identified by the victim, transported to Ithaca Police Department headquarters, and charged with robbery in the second degree, a class C felony. They were arraigned in Ithaca City Court on Tuesday morning. Craft has been remanded to Tompkins County Jail without bail, and Ellison is being held in Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
