Tompkins County Sheriff busts eight in Newfield for meth production after “lengthy investigation”

Eight men and women have been charged in the wake of a "lengthy investigation" into methamphetamine manufacturing and trafficking by the Tompkins County Sheriff's Department.

Photos courtesy TCSD.A release from the Sheriff's Department says sheriff's deputies, Ithaca Police Department officers, New York State Police troopers from the Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, and other units served a search warrant at three locations in the Town of Newfield late Wednesday night.

"As a result of the search warrant, officers seized methamphetamine [and] precursors to manufacturing of methamphetamine," according to the Sheriff's Department statement, at 36 Bishop Road, 106 Ward Heights North, and 712 Ward Blvd East in Newfield.

Charged are 44-year-old Louis Parker (a.k.a. Steve), 29-year-old Corey Woodward, 32-year-old Amanda Chaffee, 52-year-old Thomas Chaffee, 52-year-old Debra Buck (a.k.a. Debra Miller), 36-year-old Kenneth Benjamin, 33-year-old Katie Adams, and 30-year-old William Pelto, all of the Town of Newfield.

All were arraigned on assorted criminal possession of controlled substance or criminal possession of meth manufacturing material or related charges, except for Mr. Benjamin, who was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 2nd degree, and released.
