The City of Ithaca Department of Public Works says the 800 block of East State Street, also known as Route 79, will be reduced to one lane from 7am until about 3:30pm on Wednesday, February 27th, from the intersection with Eddy Street to the intersection with Mitchell Street. 

Flaggers will alternate traffic around the work zone while DPW Water & Sewer crews install new water service for the Collegetown Terrace apartment projects.

We strongly recommend finding an alternate route through the area, especially if you need to drive east or west along Route 79 during the morning commute window or around lunchtime. Buffalo Street to Dryden Road to Pine Tree Road makes a good eastbound route, and Pine Tree Road to Dryden Road to Buffalo Street or Seneca Street makes a good westbound route.
