It's not even noon, and Ithaca College has hit its IC Giving Day goal of 607 donors

February 26, 2015 by Rachel Cera

Ithaca College set a goal of 607 donors for its first "IC Giving Day," with a theme of "Give back to move IC forward." They hit that goal not even halfway through the 24-hour drive, and are raring for more.

"Our goal is to raise 607 gifts, a nod to our favorite area code," says the IC Giving Day web site, and "if we do, a special group of alumni will give an additional $226,000 to help support the IC experience."

Just before noon on Thursday, the campaign had hit 646 donors and had passed $70,000. Organizers say they have set a new goal of 953 donors, which will trigger an additional $100,000 matching gift.

Update: As of 1pm, IC had hit its second goal of 953 donors, and asks, "Can we hit 1,485.0?"

Ithaca College has challenged each school on campus to get its community to participate by offering an additional $26,000 to the school with the highest participation rate at the end of the 24-hour event. As of noon, the Park School of Communications was leading the way with 1.19% participation rate, calculated as the number of gifts divided by the total number of alumni, parents, and students affiliated with each school.
