Police investigating February pellet gun incident at Ithaca High School

March 13, 2013

The Ithaca Police Department says they're investigating an incident last month in which an Ithaca High School student was shot with a pellet gun by another student. The incident, which was reported the following morning, occurred in the IHS parking lot after school hours on February 12th.

Police say one member of a group of students in the parking lot had an Airsoft pellet gun and discharged it towards another male student, striking him in the cheek and back. The victim's injuries were not serious.

Because both the victim and the identified defendant are 17 years old, their identities are not being released. The defendant will be arraigned today in Ithaca City Court on charges of reckless endangerment in the second degree, menacing in the third degree, and harassment in the second degree.
