The National Weather Service says a low pressure system will spread snow across northeast Pennsylvania and Central New York on Friday morning, before higher temperatures shift precipitation to rain.

Snowfall forecast map courtesy NWS.Snowfall forecast map courtesy NWS.Snowfall of 2-6 inches is likely across the Southern Tier and northeast Pennsylvania, but the Ithaca area is unlikely to see more than 1-2 inches, say NWS forecasters. They say roadways may be slick on Friday morning, but conditions will improve rapidly as temperatures rise above 30 on Friday afternoon.

Snow in the Ithaca area will probably begin around 8-9am. Watch 14850 Today and the IthacaNet closings and cancellations page for any alerts due to the weather.

Rain showers are likely on Saturday afternoon, but temperatures will drop below 30 again for Sunday.
