April 25th will be a school day, says Ithaca City School District

March 27, 2014

At this Tuesday's school board meeting, the Board of Education approved a change to the Ithaca City School District academic calendar making April 25th a school day for all students, the district says. The day had been scheduled as an ELA Scoring Day.

The district said in its announcement that they will be using "aideable services through OCM BOCES," which serves Onondaga, Cortland, and Madison Counties, making the change "a budget-neutral solution that increases instructional time." Multiple snow days this winter had resulted in too few instructional days for the academic year. ICSD already eliminated recess days on March 17th and May 23rd.

Ithaca school kids do still have their upcoming spring break to look forward to. It's scheduled for April 14th-18th.
