Happy 71st anniversary to Triphammer Wines & Spirits, the family-owned liquor store at the Triphammer Marketplace in the Village of Lansing in Ithaca's northeast. To celebrate, owners Julie Crowley and father Robert are hosting a storewide anniversary party this Saturday, April 14th, from 4-7pm.
Saturday's anniversary celebration will feature over 100 wine tastings throughout the store, and Irish-themed snacks catered by Kilpatrick's Publick House.
The company is also celebrating ten years in its current location, a portion of the Triphammer Mall that had previously been occupied by an A&P supermarket. Before that, Triphammer Wine & Spirits had been in smaller quarters a few doors down, since soon after the mall opened about fifty years ago.
The store's origins were in downtown Ithaca; Julie Crowley says her grandparents opened Crowley's Liquor Store on South Cayuga Street in 1941.
Triphammer Wines & Spirits hosts a weekly wine tasting on Fridays, but customers who haven't stopped by in a while will be pleased to see the newly built, expanded wine-tasting bar. The tastings often feature samples of cheese from Crowley's next-door Ithaca Coffee Company gourmet shop.
