Stewart Park will be closed to vehicles Monday through Wednesday

May 9, 2014

The City of Ithaca says upcoming work on the railroad tracks that cross the entrance to Stewart Park means the park entrance must be closed to vehicles this coming Monday through Wednesday, May 12th through 14th.

Ithaca's Streets & Facilities office says a Norfolk Southern Railway crew will be removing and replacing the railroad tracks that cross the twin entrance and exit driveways at Stewart Park, near Route 13 and East Shore Drive at the southern end of Cayuga Lake. Railroad crews will facilitiate any necessary crossings for emergency vehicles during working hours, and a traffic lane will be left open for emergency vehicles overnight.

Pedestrian access to the city-owned park will remain open. City staff declined to comment on alternate parking options in the area, but we suggest taking careful note of No Parking signs along nearby roads and shoulders.
