Area residents who bike to work or school on May 16th, the local Bike-to-Work Day as part of National Bike Month, will be treated to breakfast courtesy of several Ithaca-area organizations. Breakfast stations will be available around Downtown Ithaca and Fall Creek, on the Cornell University and Ithaca College campuses, near the airport, and at the foot of West Hill.
In Downtown Ithaca, the Downtown Ithaca Alliance and Creating Healthy Places program will host a breakfast outside Ithaca Guitar Works and the Dewitt Mall, from 7:30-10:00am, and the Sustainability Center will host a breakfast from 7:30-9:30 at their 111 North Albany Street location.
On the north side of town, Ithaca Carshare will host breakfast at Thompson Park at the corner of Cayuga and Cascadilla Streets from 8-10am; AIDS Ride for Life will host breakfast at the bridge next to Ithaca High School from 7:30-9:30; and the Friends Bike Clinic will host a breakfast in the Quaker Meetinghouse courtyard on the corner of 3rd and Madison Streets from 7:30-9:30.
At the foot of West Hill, the Finger Lakes Cycling Club and Bike Ithaca are hosting a breakfast from 7:30-9:30am between Cliff and Hector Streets.
Ithaca College cyclists will find a breakfast in front of Textor Hall, near the flagpole, hosted by the Ithaca College Sustainability Initiative from 7-9am.
On the Cornell University campus, the Cornell Wellness Program and Cornell Facilities Services will host two breakfasts from 7-9am, in front of Helen Newman Fitness Center on north campus, and on Campus Road by Teagle Hall.
Near the airport, Tetra Tech will host a breakfast from 7:30-9:30am in their parking lot at 10 Brown Road, in the Cornell Business & Technology Park.
Organizers include the Way2Go program of Coooperative Extension of Tompkins County, which promotes sustainable transportation options including walking and cycling, mass transit options, and carpooling or rideshare plans.
