After a bumpy postseason road that featured an overtime loss to Princeton in the Ivy League semifinal, Cornell men's lacrosse has made it to Philadelphia for this weekend's NCAA championship tournament. The Big Red faces Duke at 2:30pm Saturday in the semifinal round.
Cornell bested the University of Maryland 16-8 and Ohio State 16-6 in the first two rounds of NCAA play after entering the tournament unseeded. The combined 18-goal differential is the highest ever in NCAA tournament play for an unseeded team.
Cornell has beaten the Blue Devils in three regular-season games over the last several years, but Duke topped the Big Red in the 2005 NCAA quarterfinals and a 2007 NCAA semifinal game.
This afternoon's game will be televised on ESPN2 and online on WatchESPN. The winner will advance to the NCAA championship game at 1pm Monday, to face the winner of today's Syracuse vs Denver semifinal.
