IPD apprehends parole violator in responding to west end dispute

May 26, 2014

Ithaca police officers responding to a reported dispute in the area of Corn Street and Cleveland Avenue late Sunday night ended up arresting a man wanted on a New York State parole warrant.

Responding officers heard multiple people in the west end residence arguing, and IPD says "officers on scene were able to recognize Xavier Johnson (aka Xavier Brown and Xavier Cartier) in the residence." Johnson, who had an active warrant issued by the New York State Division of Parole for absconding from his parole, was believed to be armed and dangerous.

Police set up a perimeter to surround the house, and "made verbal contact with Johnson," who exited the residence and was secured. He was sent to Tompkins County Jail on the parole warrant.
