City of Ithaca hosting community meetings to discuss sidewalk replacement plans

June 1, 2015 by Rachel Cera

Maybe the t-shirts should say "Ithaca is Sidewalks." The City of Ithaca has a new Sidewalk Improvement District plan that takes sidewalk repair and rebuilding responsibilities out of homeowners' and business owners' hands, while charging set fees to property owners.

Ithaca Sidewalk Improvement District 1.Ithaca Sidewalk Improvement District 1.The City is hosting a series of meetings to get input on how the sidewalk repair process will work, and there are two meetings this Monday and Tuesday evening.

Monday evening's meeting, 6:30-8pm in the NYSEG Community Room at the Sciencenter, will focus on Sidewalk Improvement District (SID) number 1, pictured, which encompasses much of the Fall Creek and Northside areas of the City.

Tuesday evening's meeting, 6-7:30pm in the gymnasium at GIAC, will focus on SID number 3.

5th Ward alderperson Deborah Mohlenhoff encourages City residents to email her at dmohlenhoff@cityofithaca.org, or their own alderperson, or project manager Eric Hathaway at ehathaway@cityofithaca.org, if they can't attend but would like to provide input.
