The blocks of East Seneca Street adjacent to the Ithaca Commons will be reduced to one lane of traffic and one parking lane on Monday and Tuesday, June 2nd and 3rd. Expect delays traveling through downtown, or seek another route.
The City of Ithaca says the lanes adjacent to Bank Alley, the portion of the Ithaca Commons where North Tioga Street intersects with East Seneca Street, will be closed to install new storm catch basins in Seneca Street. The lane closures will be effective 7am-6pm both days, and the City says the work should be completed by the end of the work day on Tuesday.
All travel lanes will be open outside of work hours, and no detours will be in place during the day. At the same time, crews beginning repair work on the Seneca Street parking garage will be delivering materials and staging them on the ground level of the garage early this week. The City suggests area residents plan to park in the Cayuga Street or Green Street parking garages instead. Work on the garage will continue through the summer.
