Walmart reopening after nothing suspicious found following bomb threat

June 12, 2014

The Walmart Supercenter in Ithaca's southwest is reopening at about 4:30pm after police investigated a bomb threat received earlier this afternoon.

The Ithaca Police Department says officers responded to the scene at about 2:34 on Thursday and assisted in evacuating the building. IPD requested assistance from the New York State Police and Cornell University Police Department K9 teams, and a dog brought to the scene by CUPD conducted a search of the building.

Police say "nothing suspicious or otherwise out of the ordinary was located." An investigation is continuing, and IPD asks that anyone with information that might aid the investigation contact the criminal investigations unit through police dispatch at 607-272-3245, the administration line at 607-272-9973, the Crimestoppers Tipline at 607-697-0333, or the anonymous online tip form.
