Honan tells us the bicycle accident "did not involve any other vehicles or pedestrians," and the cyclist was airlifted to a hospital for evaluation of possible head injuries. The Ithaca Fire Department says the female cyclist was placed on a backboard at the scene with a cervical collar in case of any spinal damage.

A Life Net helicopter was called to the scene, and landed at Cornell's athletic fields on Jessup Road. Cornell Environmental Health & Safety staff and Bangs Ambulance personnel also assisted at the scene.

Honan says "The temporary road closure in place at this time is so we can complete the measurements and photographs for the investigation."
