Ithaca community fireworks show postponed due to rainy weather

July 1, 2013

Organizers of the Ithaca community fireworks show scheduled for tonight say the event has been postponed "due to the soggy weather." The show will now be held on Sunday evening, July 7th.

The annual fireworks show, originally scheduled this year for Monday, July 1st, is supported by donations from the community. As of last week, organizers said about $17,000 of a needed $22,000 had been raised.

"We did not want to interfere with other displays in the area and feel like this will be a great end to the 4th of July weekend," says organizer Vicki Taylor Brous of the new date.

The event at Stewart Park is to have food and crafts vendors, and a lineup of musical performers. Scheduled acts include the Destination, Mike Brindisi and the New York Rock, and Sundown Sally.

Community members may donate to the fireworks show online, by mail, or via mobile phone.
