Home health aide charged with grand larceny after stealing from elderly woman she cared for

Stacey L. Courtright, a 24-year-old home health aide from Ovid has been arraigned on charges of grand larceny after police say she stole from the elderly Ithaca woman she was caring for.

Photo provided by IPD.An Ithaca Police Department release says earlier this year, the elderly woman Courtright was caring for discovered funds were missing from her bank account. An audit showed that Courtright had cashed a total of 16 checks worth $4,000 by forging the victim's signature.

Police say Courtright voluntarily came to the police department to turn herself in on Wednesday. She was arraigned in Ithaca City Court on charges of grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony, and released on her own recognizance.
