Saturday night Roller Derby bout will benefit Philly skater recovering from attack

August 8, 2015 by Mark H. Anbinder

No illustration of the tight-knit roller derby family could be clearer: this Saturday's roller derby bout between the Ithaca Bluestockings and Connecticut's Yankee Brutals will help raise money to support a former Philly Roller Girls skater who was attacked in her home with her young daughter last month.

Philadelphia-area elementary school teacher Danecia Berrian, who skated for the Liberty Belles All-Star team as Nina Knockout, suffered multiple stab wounds along with her 21-month-old daughter in an attack in their home on July 26th. Friends set up a fundraising web site at love4danecia.com to help cover their medical bills and the costs of home nursing care.
