West Hill community meeting slated for LACS this evening

August 8, 2013

The Lehman Alternative Community School off Elm Street will host a meeting "regarding crime and the quality of life on West Hill," according to the Ithaca Police Department. The meeting will begin at 5:30pm at LACS, at 111 Chestnut Street, up Elm Street from Route 79 in Ithaca's west end.

Ithaca's West Hill area has been the location of frequent crime reports, including a shooting at an apartment complex near Cayuga Medical Center just last week. Then acting chief of police, IPD police chief John R. Barber ramped up foot patrols in the area this spring, saying, "Right now we need officers on the streets to stop these senseless acts of violence and to prevent future similar acts."
