The Ithaca Fire Department participates annually in Kids Day to acquaint area children with fire safety and the tools they use to help people, including "the Jaws of Life, thermal imaging cameras, and rope rescue equipment." Firefighters will give kids balloons, fire helmets, and school supplies.

"The firefighters look forward to spending the day with the people they protect," says Firefighter Chris Hamilton, this year's event organizer.

Kids Day is at Stewart Park from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, August 15, with a rain date of Sunday the 16th.
