While they were investigating, another report of a burglary in progress came in from a few houses away.

The resident at the second address, on the 100 block of Stewart Avenue, said he had confronted a man who was stealing a television from the apartment, and also provided a description.

Police soon spotted a man on Seneca Street who matched the provided description, and found the stolen television nearby. The resident from the second burglary report was able to positively identify Russell. As of this writing, Russell has been charged with burglary in the 2nd degree (a class C felony), petit larceny (a class A misdemeanor), and criminal mischief in the 4th degree (a class A misdemeanor).

Ithaca police frequently remind residents, especially in the student-heavy Collegetown area, to keep doors and windows secure.
