Despite hundreds of witnesses, IPD says no one could describe suspect in South Hill stabbing

September 1, 2014 by Rachel Cera

The Ithaca Police Department says a 20-year-old man was stabbed late Saturday night on Ithaca's South Hill. Even though hundreds of people were at the scene, IPD says the best they could come up with was a description of a car of interest.

Police say the man reported he didn't know who stabbed him in the abdomen on the 300 block of Hillview Place during a large late-night party. They are looking for a Chrysler 300 sedan, grey or light blue in color, in connection with the incident.

Officers treated the victim until Bangs Ambulance personnel arrived on the scene and transported the stabbing victim to an area trauma center. IPD would not say whether the stabbing victim was an area resident. The neighborhood includes student housing, and the beginning and end of each school year typically features raucous parties spilling out onto porches and yards.

IPD asks that anyone with information that might aid their investigation contact the criminal investigations unit through police dispatch at 607-272-3245, the administration line at 607-272-9973, the Crimestoppers Tipline at 607-697-0333, or the anonymous online tip form.
