Alison Lurie at Buffalo Street Books and Megan Shull at Hangar Theatre in two big Ithaca book events

Local author Alison Lurie has followed up her 1981 book "The Language of Clothes" with a fresh look at architecture and interior design reflect and affect the people who live in and use the buildings. She'll be at Buffalo Street Books today to talk about it.

Buffalo Street Books is hosting the author, who won a Pulitzer Prize for her novel "Foreign Affairs," for a free event that begins at 6pm on Tuesday, September 9th. Copies of the book will be available for sale. Buffalo Street Books is on the north side of the Dewitt Mall in downtown Ithaca, with entrances on Buffalo Street and from the mall's lower level near GreenStar Oasis.

Photo provided.Also this evening, Ithaca native Megan Shull will be celebrating the release of her new novel, "The Swap," published last month by HarperCollins for young readers. Shull and Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick will participate in a conversation (suitable for ages 10 and up) at the Hangar Theatre hosted by NPR's Amy Dickinson.

Buffalo Street Books will be at the event with plenty of copies of the book, for sale. Doors open at 6pm for the 7pm event, which is free and open to the public. Organizers say seating is limited, and suggest getting there early.
