Cornell University professors Glenn Altschuler and Isaac Kramnick will be on hand Wednesday afternoon for a book talk and signing event co-hosted by the Cornell Store and Cornell University Press. "Cornell: A History, 1940-2015" is a companion to the legendary Morris Bishop book, "A History of Cornell," published in 1962.

The new book has been published to coincide with the celebration of Cornell's Sesquicentennial, which kicks off with a gala New York City event and Homecoming Weekend in Ithaca, and culminates with a Charter Day event in the spring.

According to Cornell University Press, "The history of Cornell since World War II, Altschuler and Kramnick believe, is in large part a set of variations on the narrative of freedom and its partner, responsibility, the obligation to others and to one’s self to do what is right and useful, with a principled commitment to the Cornell community -- and to the world outside the Eddy Street gate."

The Cornell Store will be offering discounted copies of the book beginning at 3pm, and the talk will begin at 3:15pm. The event is in Barnes Hall Auditorium, just off Ho Plaza on the Cornell campus. Metered parking is available nearby behind Willard Straight Hall, campus visitors can use Parkmobile to pay online for parking in several lots, and visitor permits are available at booths on Campus Road, Hoy Road, and Tower Road.
