September 29, 2015 by Rachel Cera

Update: This Amber Alert was cancelled at 6:12pm. The boy is safe and the woman accused of abducting him is in custody on Tuesday night, according to police.

Original story: City of Binghamton police have activated New York State's Amber Alert system as they investigate a child abduction that occurred Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the child, Lucios Mitchell, is a white male, about three months old, with short black hair and blue eyes, about two feet five inches, weighing about 12 pounds. He was taken at about 12:30pm near Chenango Street in Binghamton, and was last seen wearing a grey onesie.

Suspected in the abduction is 26-year-old Veronica Mitchell, a white female with long brown hair and brown eyes. She is about five feet two inches tall and weighs about 100 pounds. Her hair may be dyed blonde and may be pulled up. She was last seen wearing jeans and a grey t-shirt.

Police say the suspect is a non-custodial parent with a drug history "who forcibly removed the child during a supervised visit and fled." She was last seen on Chenango Street in Binghamton, and may be headed for Little Meadows, Pennsylvania.

Anyone with any information on this abduction is asked to call the City of Binghamton Police at 866 - N Y S - AMBER or dial 911 to provide information on a report or sighting.
