Freeze warning in effect tonight for Central New York

October 13, 2012

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a freeze warning covering all of Central New York and northeast Pennsylvania. The warning is in effect from 11pm Friday until 9am Saturday.

A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. With cold air arriving and a clear night ahead, the Ithaca area can expect low temperatures around 25-27 degrees Fahrenheit.

In Ithaca, temperatures are likely to dip below freezing shortly after midnight, and remain there until after 8am. In other areas, the temperature is likely to dip below freezing before midnight tonight.

Bring sensitive plants indoors, cover them, or harvest crops. A hard freeze tonight will end the growing season for home gardens.
