The City of Ithaca says Water & Sewer Division crews from the Department of Public Works will be working on water valves at the intersection of Meadow Street and South Street on Monday and Tuesday, October 21st and 22nd. The northbound lanes of Route 13 will be reduced to a single lane during work hours.
Update: Ithaca DPW crews found a third valve that needs replacing, and work will now continue through Thursday afternoon.
City officials say northbound vehicles will not be able to turn left into the South Street entrance to the Wegmans shopping plaza. Wegmans shoppers will need to proceed north and turn at Cecil MaloneDrive.
The City says the crews will be replacing two water valves found to be defective during a routine inspection. The western end of South Street will be closed during work hours; access to South Street will be available from South Titus Avenue.
Drivers should seek alternate routes to avoid delays along Route 13 during work hours, slated for 7am-3:30pm both days. We suggest driving through Downtown Ithaca or on Route 13A.
