What's on your ballot this Election Day?

November 3, 2014 by Rachel Cera

Not sure what's going to be on your ballot when you head to your polling place? Spending a few minutes ahead of time reading up on the candidates and any ballot proposals will let you make an informed decision.

If you live in Tompkins County, you can see exactly what your ballot will look like when you get to your polling place by viewing the sample ballots in the right-hand column of the Board of Elections web site. The site will also remind you where your polling place is, and exactly which election district you're in, if you aren't certain.

You can find out more about the candidates and what they stand for, and the ballot propositions in the City of Ithaca and the State of New York, as well as learn what's on the ballot for other parts of the United States, at the iVoters web site. Just enter your street address and ZIP Code. It will use that info to pull up the right ballot for you.

Polls in Tompkins County and the rest of New York State are open from 6am to 9pm this Tuesday, November 4th, for Election Day! The Ithaca Rotary Clubs Election Day Pancake Breakfast is open from 7am to 7pm at the VFW on West State Street. Make time for both! And remember, New York State law requires employers to give workers time to vote, without loss of pay, if their work hours would otherwise not give them time to get to the polls.
