It's been in the works for years, and GreenStar says plans for their Collegetown location are finally moving forward. They're hosting a Town Hall Meeting on Thursday to discuss the plans.

The new building, geared toward residents who want to live in a walkable neighborhood and use public transit to get around town, will have retail space on the ground floor and five stories of apartments.

"We are hoping our new location will improve the lives of residents, families, students, faculty, and staff," says GreenStar. General manager Brandon Kane as well as GreenStar staff and board members will be on hand for Thursday's session, at which refreshments will be served. They say they will be there "to answer any questions about our plans, and to listen to and discuss your suggestions."

The new GreenStar Co-Op store, a branch of the natural foods grocery with a main store in the west end and a satellite store downtown, will be the first attempt at a full-service grocery store in Collegetown since Egan's Shur Save closed over twenty years ago. Jason's Deli and the nearby 7-Eleven (previously a Wilson Farms) focus more on convenience items than on fresh foods.

Thursday's meeting is from 5:30-7:30pm at Durland Alternatives Library in Cornell's Anabel Taylor Hall, at the corner of Campus Road and College Avenue, near Ho Plaza and Cornell's Engineering Quad.
