The outlook is for a long, cold, snowy winter for Central New York, and many needy familes are trying to stretch their winter coats, gloves, blankets, and other cold-weather wear through an extra season. The good news is, many other area families have garments they no longer need.
Enter the 21st annual Share the Warmth campaign, a collaborative effort to gather new and gently used coats, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, winter boots, snowpants, sweaters, sweatshirts, and blankets. Organizers say children's winter gear is urgently needed this year.
Sponsored by Cornell University, Ithaca College, TC3, Ithaca and Trumansburg Rotary Clubs, Samaritan Center of Catholic Charities, and Finger Lakes Re-Use, the drive features collection points at all Cornell residence halls and several academic and administrative buildings, the Ithaca College Campus Center, Tompkins Cortland Community College, YMCA, P&C Fresh, GreenStar, and several additional locations.
A complete list of collection points is on the Share the Warmth web page. The drive runs through December 16th.
