A gathering at Ithaca College's Muller Chapel at 6pm today will give members of the campus community a chance "to offer support to one another and share their thoughts and prayers," following a Sunday evening accident in which one Ithaca College student lost his life, and three others were injured. Marisa Kelly, IC provost and vice president for educational affairs, says "chaplains and professional staff from the Counseling Center will be available during and after the gathering."
IC junior English major Michael N. Clark was pronounced dead at the scene after the SUV he was driving back to Ithaca from Thanksgiving break rolled over when he swerved to avoid a deer on Interstate 88 near Cobleskill. Clark's passengers, junior Ezra Chamberlain, junior Melanie Pond, and sophomore Christopher Rose, were transported to Albany Medical Center, treated for injuries, and released.
The College is making support services available to members of the IC community through the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services at 607-274-3136. Faculty and staff may access the counseling services of the Employee Assistance Program at 800-327-2255.
