The Ithaca Police Department announced Monday that they are investigating a report of a robbery in today's early morning hours. Police say a male victim was approached at about 3am in the 500 block of West State Street who initially asked for a cigarette, but then demanded the victim's property.
The victim told police that the suspect did not display a weapon, but said he had a handgun, and moved his hand in his jacket pocket to indicate a gun. The victim says he handed over his wallet, cell phone, backpack, jacket, and other items. When the suspect then made sexual advances toward him, the victim says he shoved the suspect, who fled on foot.
In reporting the incident about 45 minutes later, the victim described the suspect as a black male, about 25 years old, 5'9" tall and 130 pounds, clean shaven, short hair, and wearing an orange puffy jacket and dark clothes underneath.
