North Cayuga Street will be closed Tuesday for a hydrant replacement

The City of Ithaca's Department of Public Works says North Cayuga Street will be closed all day Tuesday for replacement of a hydrant.

Cayuga Street will be closed north of the Commons between Court Street and Cascadilla Street beginning at 7am, in both directions. TCAT buses will be rerouted around the area.

The road should be reopened by the end of the afternoon. We suggest avoiding this area for the day, though, to avoid the likely clogged traffic!

Downtown Ithaca streets, gridlocked due to bomb threat at Hilton Garden Inn, have reopened

Update: IPD has issued an all-clear, and streets in the area have reopened.

Ithaca Police asked commuters and community members to avoid driving into or through Downtown Ithaca on Monday afternoon. Authorities have evacuated the Hilton Garden Inn following a bomb threat, and IPD says the area is "gridlocked."

Time to get your annual flu shot! Where to find one around Ithaca and Tompkins County

Flu vaccinations are now available in Ithaca and Tompkins County, and the CDC recommends everyone six months of age and older get a flu shot, every year.

"It takes about two weeks after vaccination for your body to develop full protection against the flu," says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which recommends getting a flu vaccine as soon as possible once they're available each fall, to protect yourself and your loved ones, especially those who are particularly susceptible to infection.
